The 90-Day Sprint: How Startups Use Project Focus to Find Their First Customers
Ninety days, three projects, one scoreboard. A practical way for startups to build leads, operations and sales at the same time.
Startups have too many good ideas and too little time. The fix is not more discipline. It is fewer projects.
Three projects, three engines
In a 90-day sprint, I would pick one project for each engine of growth:
- Leads: one channel, tested properly.
- Operations: one process that must not break when customers arrive.
- Sales: one clear pipeline with a simple follow-up.
The scoreboard
Each project gets one number that matters, reviewed weekly. What gets measured gets managed, and what gets reviewed weekly gets done.
The sprint rhythm
- Week 1: pick the three projects and name owners.
- Weeks 2 to 11: build, test and adjust weekly.
- Week 12: review results, keep what worked, choose the next three.
Focus is not doing more. It is knowing what not to do this quarter.
Ninety days is long enough to see results and short enough to stay honest. It is a format I like for early-stage teams, and it fits the Project Focus way of working.
